On April 11, 2021, the 22-year-old model died after falling from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town. Four months after the tragic death of Nellie, South African rapper AKA has paid an emotional tribute to Tembe. On Wednesday, AKA shared a picture of himself and Nellie on Instagram and expressed gratitude towards those who supported him and their families.
AKA also posted a video of Tembe and himself dancing in a kitchen, followed by four broken heart emojis. In his first public statement after her death, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes said that every day feels like a battle since losing the love of his life. He voiced his heartbreak over the life they had prepared together but were incapable to fulfill.
In June, on Father’s Day, AKA wrote a letter to Tembe expressing his unhappiness and how everything reminded him of her, making it difficult for him to enjoy the day.
