MS Dhoni Recovers Well after Successful Knee Surgery in Mumbai
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the legendary Indian cricketer and the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has undergone a successful knee surgery in Mumbai on Thursday, June 1, 2023. The surgery was performed by Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, a renowned sports orthopaedic surgeon who has treated many top Indian cricketers in the past.
Dhoni played with a strapped knee throughout IPL 2023
Dhoni, who led CSK to their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title on Monday, May 29, 2023, had been suffering from a left knee injury for a long time. He played with a heavily strapped knee throughout the IPL 2023 season and did not bat much in the tournament. He scored only 104 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 182.46.
Dhoni flew to Mumbai from Ahmedabad after the final
Dhoni flew to Mumbai from Ahmedabad after the IPL 2023 final, where CSK defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets in a thrilling encounter. He consulted Dr Pardiwala at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and decided to undergo surgery on his knee. He was admitted to the hospital on May 31, 2023 and underwent the operation on June 1, 2023.
Dhoni is recovering well after the surgery
According to CSK’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan, Dhoni is recovering well after the surgery and will be discharged from the hospital soon. He said that Dhoni will take medical advice for his further rehabilitation and recovery process. He also said that Dhoni’s retirement from cricket is not on the cards and that he will play another IPL season if his body allows him.
Dhoni wants to play one more season for CSK
Dhoni, who has been playing for CSK since the inception of IPL in 2008, has expressed his desire to play one more season for the franchise. He said that it would be a gift for his fans to play one more season and that he is not thinking about retirement at this stage. He said that he will work hard for nine months and try to play one more IPL season.

Dhoni is the most successful captain in IPL history, having won five titles with CSK and one with Rising Pune Supergiant. He has also led CSK to eight finals and four runner-up finishes. He is the most-capped player in IPL history, having played 250 matches and scored 5,082 runs at an average of 38.79. He has also affected 170 dismissals as a wicket-keeper.
