His decision to join MQM-P once again highlighted his shifting loyalties, but it also showed his ability to adapt to the changing political landscape of Karachi. One example is the character Jameel Jamali in the Indian film Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026), which was loosely based on Karachi’s political scene. While the film did not directly name him, many viewers noticed similarities between the fictional character and Nabil’s real-life persona. This shows how his reputation as a bold and controversial politician has crossed borders and become part of cultural storytelling.

Controversies and Legal Issues

Gabol’s career has not been free of controversies. Over the years, he has faced several allegations and legal troubles. In 2015, during the unrest in Lyari, he was accused of having links with local gangs, though he denied these charges. In 2018, he was involved in an incident at Karachi airport where he was accused of physically assaulting a staff member.

In 2020, he faced an attempted murder case after being accused of assault. More recently, in 2023, he made remarks that were widely criticized as misogynistic.
