Gautami was born on 2 July 1968 in Ichchapuram, Andhra Pradesh. Her father, T. R. Seshagiri Rao, was a well-known oncologist, and her mother, Vasundhara Devi, worked as a pathologist. She studied at Bishop Cotton Girls’ School in Bengaluru, one of the oldest and most respected schools in India. She thereafter continued her schooling at Visakhapatnam’s GITAM University.
