He graduated from Marquette University High School in 1987, and earned his bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Marquette University in 1991. He later obtained his master’s degree in education from Silver Lake College in 2000.

John Ricke married his wife, Jennifer, in 1994, and they had three children: Matthew, Emily, and Andrew. He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved traveling, reading, watching sports, and playing trivia.

“He was the best husband and dad anyone could ask for,” said Jennifer Ricke. “He was always supportive, generous, and fun-loving. He made us laugh every day with his witty jokes and stories.”

A Celebration of Life

A celebration of life service for Mr. Ricke will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Manitowoc. The service will be followed by a luncheon at the church hall.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the John Ricke Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial assistance to students who wish to pursue higher education in social studies or related fields.

The family also thanks the staff of Aurora Medical Center and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care of Mr. Ricke during his illness.
