Controversy
Mr. Sameer has been charged with money laundering and disproportionate assets from coal traders in 2020. At the same time, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him. Also, there is a form signed by Vishnoi in 2020. After its search, it found evidence of illegal recovery in mineral transportation. At that time, an extensive network of illegal extortion is believed to have begun.
Latest News – Raid
On 13 October 2022, IAS Sameer was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED)in connection with a money laundering investigation. Furthermore, the ED wanted him to remain in jail for 14 days while the court Judge Ajay Singh Rajput granted him only 8 days of custody. The ED stated in court that during the raid in IAS’s house they found a 20-carat diamond, 4 kg gold, and Rs 47 lakh cash. The officers (ED) also found documents related to mining policies.
On the other hand, as of October 2022, the value of seized gold is near about 2 crores 20 Lakh INR. According to the reports, Vishnoi’s lawyer SK Farhan investigated and said that ED’s arrest was wrong and illegal. Advocate Farhan added that, the disproportionate assets issue is of IT and why ED interferes in this. Before appearing in court, Sameer’s medical checkup was done at Mekahara Hospital in Raipur.
Besides this, his wife (Preeti Godara) wrote a 3-page letter to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. In that letter, she complains about ED and she writes that the ED officer has threatened her and her husband. She described, the ED said that if they didn’t do what they said they would ruin the career of the IAS Vishnoi and leave him to rot in jail.
The officers (ED) also forced Sameer to sign the papers and pressured him to become a government witness. Moreover, after interrogation Vishnoi’s wife confessed that they used illegal money to buy property, jewelry, and gold. On the other hand, In Raipur, the ED also arrested businessman Sunil Agrawal of the Indramani group and Luxmikant Tiwari.
