Andrea Evans Obituary:- Andrea Evans, the two-time Daytime Emmy nominated actor who rose to fame in the 1970s and ’80s as the troublemaking teen Tina Lord on the ABC soap One Life To Live, died Sunday of cancer. She was 66.
A Beloved Soap Opera Icon
Evans made her television debut as Fay Morrison Wheeler in the NBC miniseries The Awakening Land in 1978. In 1979, she landed the role of Tina Clayton (later Tina Lord), sister of Victoria Lord (Erika Slezak), on the ABC drama One Life to Live. She reprised her role numerous times over the years, last appearing on the series in 2011.
Evans cemented her status as a soap opera icon with additional roles on The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful and Passions. Evans played Patty Williams Abbott on The Young and the Restless from 1983-1984 and Tawny Moore on The Bold and The Beautiful from 1999-2000 and later from 2010-2011. On Passions, Evans portrayed Rebecca Hotchkiss from 2000-2008, appearing on the NBC drama for over 600 episodes.
Evans was nominated for a pair of Daytime Emmys over the course of her career. She was nominated for outstanding ingenue in a drama series (One Life to Live) in 1988 and outstanding performer in a new approaches drama series (DeVanity) in 2015.
A Devoted Wife and Mother
Evans was married to Steve Rodriguez, a documentary filmmaker, since 1998. They have one daughter, Kylie, who was born in 2004. Evans was also a stepmother to Rodriguez’s two children from a previous marriage, Max and Dylan.
Evans was very proud of her family and often shared photos of them on social media. In June, she posted a picture of her husband and daughter on Father’s Day, writing: “Happy Father’s Day to my amazing husband Steve! You are such a wonderful father to our beautiful daughter Kylie! We love you so much!”
A Courageous Fighter
Evans was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and underwent surgery and chemotherapy. She kept her fans updated on her health through her Instagram account, where she posted inspirational messages and thanked them for their support.
In October 2020, she announced that she was cancer-free after completing her treatment. She wrote: “I am so happy to share with you that I am officially cancer free! I finished my last chemo treatment yesterday and I am feeling great! Thank you all for your prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. You have no idea how much it means to me!”
However, in May 2021, she revealed that her cancer had returned and that she was undergoing more treatment. She remained optimistic and hopeful throughout her battle, saying: “I am not giving up! I am fighting this with everything I have! I know I can beat this again!”

Evans died Sunday at her home in Pasadena, California, following a battle with breast cancer, Evans’ representative Nick Leicht confirmed to USA TODAY on Monday.
She is survived by her husband Steve and daughter Kylie, as well as her stepchildren Max and Dylan, her mother Audrey, her brother Jeff, and her nieces and nephews.
Her fans and colleagues have been paying tribute to her on social media, remembering her as a talented, kind, generous and beautiful person.
Erika Slezak, who played Evans’ sister on One Life to Live, said: “I am heartbroken to hear of Andrea’s passing. She was a wonderful actress, a lovely person and a dear friend. We had so much fun working together on OLTL. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.”
Don Diamont, who played Evans’ love interest on The Bold and the Beautiful, said: “Andrea was one of a kind. She was funny, smart, sexy and full of life. She lit up every room she entered. She was a joy to work with and a true friend. I will always cherish our memories together.”
Liza Huber, who played Evans’ daughter on Passions, said: “Andrea was more than just my TV mom. She was my mentor, my confidante, my second mother. She taught me so much about acting and life. She was always there for me through thick and thin. I am devastated by her loss.”
