Daniel Worthy Obituary:- A young man with a bright future in football dies in a car crash. Daniel Worthy, a 22-year-old graduate of Merrimack College and a former student-athlete, died in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday night, June 21, 2023, on Dual Highway in Hagerstown, Maryland. He was driving a 2007 BMW when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree on the south side of the road. He was taken to Meritus Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. A 22-year-old female passenger, who was not identified by the police, was also injured in the crash but survived.
Daniel Worthy was born on January 31, 2001, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, to Milini Worthy and Elmore Worthy Jr. He had five siblings: KaLara Thomas, Elizah Thomas, Izaiah Worthy, Zion Worthy, and Majezty Worthy. He attended Northwest High School where he excelled in football as a defensive lineman. He earned several honors and awards for his performance on the field, such as All-State, 1st Team All-Mid Penn, 1st Team Mid-Penn Colonial (junior), and 2nd Team Mid Penn All-Conference (sophomore).

He continued his football career at Merrimack College in Massachusetts, where he majored in criminology. He played for the Merrimack Warriors as #98 and graduated in 2023. He had a passion for the sport and aspired to play in the NFL someday. He also had a witty sense of humor and a loyal personality that made him popular among his friends and family.

His former high school coach, Chris Brunner, also paid tribute to him on Twitter. He wrote:
I am heartbroken to hear about the passing of Daniel Worthy. He was one of the best players I ever coached and an even better person. He had a bright future ahead of him and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Rest in peace #98.
His college coach, Dan Curran, also expressed his sorrow on Twitter. He wrote:
Words cannot describe how devastated we are by the loss of Daniel Worthy. He was a leader on our team and a joy to coach. He had so much potential and passion for the game. He was like a son to me and a brother to his teammates. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
