Landon Skinner Obituary, Death Cause: A Life Cut Short by a Tragic Accident

Landon Skinner, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at the age of 36. He was involved in a fatal car crash in Pitt County, North Carolina while driving to his work at the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church (WMUMC) in Farmville. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics.

Landon Skinner was born on June 15, 1987, in Greenville, North Carolina, to Robert and Linda Skinner. He grew up in a loving and supportive family, along with his two sisters, Ashley and Megan. He attended D.H. Conley High School, where he excelled in academics and sports. He was a member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams. He graduated in 2005 with honors and a full scholarship to East Carolina University.

Landon majored in religious studies and minored in music at ECU. Landon Skinner was passionate about his faith and his love for singing. He joined the ECU Gospel Choir and the ECU Chamber Singers. He also participated in various campus ministries and outreach programs. He graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree and a desire to serve God and his community.

Landon Skinner met his wife, Jessica, at ECU. They were both members of the ECU Gospel Choir and shared a common interest in music and religion. They fell in love and got married in 2010. They settled in Pitt County and welcomed their first child, Noah, in 2011. They later had two more children, Hannah and Levi, in 2013 and 2015 respectively.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at WMUMC. The service will be officiated by Rev. John Smith, the senior pastor of WMUMC. The service will be followed by a reception at the church fellowship hall.

A private burial will take place at the General Williams Skinner Cemetery in Perquimans County, where Landon’s ancestors are buried.
