Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Writes To LG Anil Baijal, Asks To Lift Ban On Chhat Puja

New Delhi – “COVID situation is better in Delhi. In my view, we should permit Chhath Puja following all the COVID protocol” writes Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to Delhi’s Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal over the Chhath Puja celebration in the National Capital.

The Chief Minister reiterated that neighboring states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, etc have also been allowed to celebrate Chhath Puja with appropriate restrictions for the health and safety of their citizens. I request you to convene a meeting of DDMA as soon as possible and grant permission to organize the Chhath Puja celebrations.

Department Of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA Delhi) holds the responsibility to permit to celebrate any festival in Delhi. DDMA also restricted many festival celebrations and public gatherings amid the Covid situation in Delhi. The head of DDMA is Delhi LG Anil Baijal. Therefore, Delhi CM requested Anil to grant permission to celebrate Chhath Puja in Delhi after the reduction in Covid Cases in the Capital.

Chhath Puja celebration brings a new clash between BJP and AAP political parties. Earlier BJP leader Manoj Tiwari protested against Aam Aadmi Party. In the protest for the Chhath Puja celebration, Manoj Tiwari got injured. Also, Manish Sisodia has written a letter to the Health Minister of India for Chhatt Puja Covid protocols. Last year, DDMA banned the Chhath Puja celebration in Public areas.

But, now the covid situation is better in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal has written a formal request to LG Anil Baijal and asks him to Lift Ban on Chhat Puja in Delhi.
