India Accepts Invitation To Afghanistan Talks in Moscow, Taliban Representative To Be Present

New Delhi – India has accepted a Russian invitation to join the Afghanistan talks in Moscow on October 20, 2021. The Taliban who captured power two months ago have also been invited to the talks. And this will bring them face to face with India, which evacuated its diplomatic staff from the country. After the regime change there.

Confirming the Indian participation Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday, and I quote

“We have received an invitation for the Moscow format meeting on Afghanistan on October 23. We will be participating in it.”

This will be the second meeting in which we will be coming face to face with the Taliban. The earlier meeting was held at end of August, in Qatar, where our ambassador Deepak Mittal had met with the rep of the Taliban. And they discuss the regime which will be coming to Afghanistan.

But now this will be the second meeting and possibly India not only participating but will send a joint Secretary level officer. No, the issue is that India has been raising certain doubts about the legality of the Taliban Government. One is that they feel that the government has come in without negotiation, it has come with force. And it is not an inclusive government. It does not have a minority with it. Now, very hardly a representation of Uzbek and Tajiks two and one, and nothing from Hajara.

No woman has been taken into basically in the ministry, and there is a human crisis, which is taking place. Human rights have been violated of children, women, and minorities. So we are raising this issue. But we are going to Moscow with an open mind, we want to put pressure on the Taliban government, that they have to change in case they want acceptability from the world forum.

As of today, no one has recognized the Taliban government, not even Pakistan, and turkey, or Iran. So, therefore, one can understand. As far as Russia is concerned, I suppose they are going step by step. Earlier, they were very close to the Taliban, their embassy still working in Kabul, but last about a month so they have become very cautious.

Because they know that in case the terrorism which has been used in Afghanistan even now spread into their software Valley in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, then it can come to Russia. So therefore they are very cautious. They are also not going to recognize Afghanistan Taliban’s government.

They are also going to put pressure on the Taliban government, that you have to be inclusive, and you cannot allow your soil to be utilized by international terrorists like Islamic State and Al Qaeda, and many other terrorist organizations.
